A cubmaster wears many hats, you know, so I’m taking that literally this year!

September: popcorn hat

It’s a headband!

October: top hat (fun story about it later)

💓

November: super secret awesome-sauce giant hat (I’m still making it, this is the hat base)

Dog tail for scale.

I’ll take more pics as I finish each piece for the giant November hat and show how I put it together in another post.

I finished the other pullover! Took almost 3 skeins of Caron Big Cakes yarn and a year of working on it on and off. My oldest loves green. It’s the same free Red Heart pattern I used before. But for both I kept holding the pieces against the boy it was for and making it fit. Both are too big but I want them to be used and loved for a long time. It’s a great pattern and easy to adjust. There are only 4 pieces to make!

Yup… I’m going to make more of these.

It’s a busy week already, haven’t stitched much, but I did get to sit and stitch at a birthday party last Sunday. I got to stitch and watch a gaggle of 8 year olds bowl. It was a lot of fun. We had pizza and cake and he spent most of his quarters on the big bubble gum machine, the one with the spiral slide the gumball comes down.

Good times.

(On the yarn front, the  vest still looks like ribbon candy. I only have two more rows until shaping.)

So my youngest got sick, then I got strep throat (ugh!!), and now my oldest has strep. Luckily we caught it early and he is doing just fine.

So I haven’t done much besides rest and read and drink lots of water, lol. I finally got into my hoodie vest again! I’m using up stash yarn and hoping this comes out-I love the pattern.

I checked and rechecked and double checked the yardage, the swatch, everything. I originally cast on for the Large size (325 stitches! Whew!) But saw that it was going to be too big. The yarn makes a nice drapey fabric that stretches a little, so I frogged back to the foundation row and cast on again, this time 305 stitches. That saved me 5 extra inches.

Not much to see on progress but I’m 5 rows in. Seven more rows and I can start shaping.

Admittedly, this is one of those projects that’s not super interesting to watch grow but I’m seeing vests everywhere lately (we’ve had some amazing warm breezy days) and I’m excited to make one for me!

Here’s the pic:

It reminds me of ribbon candy.
Bonus cat tummy in the back ground there. ;)

My youngest got pretty sick over the weekend, hence the late post. Inevitably, I’m sick today. It’s not so bad, but since my job involves mucho driving, I called in. That’s rare.

Anyway, little guy is doing much better and I’m camped out in his room with him. We have snacks! Bananas and banana bread. Yum.

I finished my Soft Mitts last week. I’ll post those on Finished Friday.

Today we’re taking it easy and I’m crocheting a swatch. Easy. Keeps my hands doing something.

This is for Rio Sleeveless Hoodie. I don’t know if I’ll make it anytime soon but the swatch is fun. I love the pattern and I keep hoping to find the right yarn for it.

Achoos! Snifflesnork. Have a good Monday!

P.S. I’ve been mostly working on some more fingerless mitts but the pattern isn’t published yet. I’m really pleased with them and the pattern is super clever! Once I get the designer’s permission I can’t wait to share it.
